A Note from our Executive Director

Dear CIHC Community, 

I’m posting to let you know that effective August 19, 2021 I will be on a leave of absence from my role as Executive Director of the Choice in Health Clinic. During my leave I will be running as a candidate in the federal election. I want to thank our Interim Executive Director, Michelle, for taking on this role in my absence. I also want to thank the CIHC Board of Directors for approving this leave so that I can participate in the democratic process without fear of job loss should I be unsuccessful. I firmly believe that all Canadians, but especially women and those who have historically been excluded from politics, have a right to equitable access to the democratic process and ought to be able to step aside from their employment to pursue public office without fear of retribution from their employers. I’m grateful to the BOD and want to make a special point to note that supporting my leave is in no way an endorsement of me as a candidate or the party I am running with. CIHC remains a non-partisan organization.
