A Reflection on BMI Limits
At CIHC we have a commitment to breaking down barriers to care. Sometimes that means advocating for change or supporting clients as they navigate the health care system. Other times, like today, we must examine our own policies and the barriers that are perpetuating fatphobic medical racism and outdated medical models of care. Here’s what we are doing to rethink barriers to care based on BMI limits.
Join our team
Are you pro-choice? Do you possess excellent client service and medical administrative skills? Are you looking for casual work? If you said yes, then this position might be for you!
Join our team
If you are passionate about abortion access and finance then we have the position for you. Join our team in our new role as the Finance, Data, and Operations Assistant. You’ll also be responsible for non-clinical operations of our office like supporting scheduling, coordinating with contractors, and generally making sure the office runs smoothly.
Sharing our Annual Report
Our staff reflected on 2020-21 as a year of immense change at the clinic, including “adjusting to a pandemic, moving towards virtual care, and a rebranding” that embodies our values. We have been able to appreciate our collective “dedication to continuous learning” through trainings that intersect with our work, on topics such as domestic violence, trauma-informed care, and Indigenous Cultural Safety. You can read about what else we explored and achieved in our Annual Report.
National Indigenous Peoples Day
Happy National Indigenous Peoples Day! A chance to celebrate the heritage, diverse cultures, and outstanding achievements of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people across Turtle Island. Today we wanted to take a minute to acknowledge some reproductive health leaders here in Toronto. Specifically, we wanted to shout out to Seventh Generation Midwives. Learn more about Seventh Generation here: https://www.sgmt.ca/

#215children
Like so many Canadians, we at CIHC watched in outrage at the news of a discovery of a mass children's grave at the former Kamloops Indian Residential School on the Tk'emlups te Secwépemc First Nation. There are no words we can utter that could capture the horror of this news. This national tragedy must not be forgotten.
Welcome to our new website.
Choice in Health Clinic (CIHC) has provided services and care for 30 years and we felt that it was high time to update our brand. We hope you love it as much as we do. A big thank you to the folks at Whitman Emorson for developing this brand and Queerit for building our website. We couldn’t have done it without you.
