Ways to get involved right now

Whether you’re looking to support Choice in Health in a way that’s quick and fun, or more deep and ongoing, your creativity is welcome here. We are currently hiring board members –  and inviting submissions to our #prochoicepets campaign!

Our board would love to see applications here from fellow community members who are dedicated to reproductive justice and abortion access in Ontario. We’re seeking experience in areas such as anti-oppression and anti-racism, communications and public relations, disability rights, healthcare; and with work, volunteering, or personal connections to 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, BIPOC communities, and/or Disability communities. Your term will last 3 years, meeting 8 times per year (for about 2.5 hours), electronically or in person in Toronto.  Apply by July 21st!

We know that our work at Choice is meaningful to many people who cannot make a big time commitment, and we are always looking for other ways we can connect. We're exploring the theme of self care on our socials this month, and experiencing for ourselves the ways that it may come more easily in the summer, when we can be outdoors in nature or celebrating with community.

It's also where we spend time with beloved pets - who with their trusting, non-judgmental love, can support our self care better than anyone else in our lives at times. Since we know that your furry, scaly, and feathery chosen family want you to thrive too, we confidently call them pro-choice pets. In fact, we've even learned that animals have various methods by which they can stop a pregnancy from developing further if their circumstances are not optimal - including  species that scientists believe may be capable of complex cognition and relationships. We first heard about this on an episode of the podcast Ologies about possums, and as host Alie Ward put it, "reproductive choice happens in nature all the time."

So let us know here what makes your #prochoicepets so great, and we will post about them!
